Project Details
For the live concert performance of “The Mermaid Song”, we re-arranged Yoon Ho Kim & Xiaonan Yan’s original composition for Huang Xiaoyun (Ghost Huang). The new arrangement transformed the piece into a captivating stage experience, showcasing Huang’s ethereal voice while blending live and virtual elements:
– Intro designed to have a question / answer between Doria and Huang Xiaoyin, as an echo
– Duet with Doria (virtual singer), minimal instrumentation highlighting their dialogue
– Choral build-up, adding a young girls’ choir for emotional depth
– Climactic finale with fireworks, paired with Doria’s line: “Let’s go watch tonight’s fireworks show together!”
The result was a performance uniting live vocals, virtual performance, choir, and game sound design—making The Mermaid Song a highlight of the 9th Anniversary celebration.
About the Client
Song of the Mermaid” Live Concert was a centerpiece of the Honor of Kings 9th Anniversary, performed by Huang Xiaoyun (Ghost Huang) at the Beijing Wukesong Arena on November 2, 2024. Re-arranged from the original by Yoon Ho Kim and Xiaonan Yan, the piece blended live vocals, choir, and holographic visuals with the virtual idol Doria, creating one of the event’s most memorable highlights.
